A little trouble in paradise (Seattle)? RW contract talks
MechaZain replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
For a back foot, across the body toss this one is impressive tho........................... Cam tends to zero in on his receiver and that same throw would have been a pick 6 if not for the misdirection. -

Cam's best bet is try and get more than Kaep and Dalton but he knows that Russ is the ceiling. He may very well be better but "I deserve more because my team isn't as good" doesn't fly in contract negotiations the way playoff and super bowl wins do. -
If he prefers working his way up to maybe RT over starting at LT this might be a blessing in disguise.

gettlemanjack I appreciate the tweets usually but please no more play-by-play of this crap

Then his value would drop for sitting out a year. He's already lost about $4m for doing nothing wrong, this is just consolation. I don't understand why UDFA contracts need to be capped so low anyway. In what other situation would every team pass on a guy for 7 rounds only to have a bidding war on him immediately after?
-
If we're passing on top prospects at dollar store prices because we don't want attention now we've hit a new low. I hope that Voth and Zod are right and we're in one of those visits.
-
If "not a suspect" and "still not a suspect" equals "definitely a suspect" to you and the league we're screwed anyway. I don't think police departments have press conferences announcing innocent people.
-
Just going based on all these comments from journalists but maybe I'm giving them too much credit. They're all saying "if he's cleared" as if teams are waiting on a public police announcement still.
-
kinda ridiculous to me teams are waiting like the police would just let him walk and announce him as a suspect later in a press release.
-
In two years when he's a free agent again I can see him signing a big contract with his hometown team or to some destination location, but in the meantime there's no team in the league that can raise his stock more than the Panthers. I can't think of a more nationally infamous o-line and if the unit improves at all it would make him a star at his position overnight. That's way more appealing than getting a ring on the bench or a short drive home in your first two seasons.

I just assume Saints fans don't know much of anything. It hasn't failed me yet.

DGB I understood but the big cat's officially getting senile if La'el's cleared and we don't even try
-
I'd like for him to split time with Philly. Having a burner and possession reciever as options would give Shula a lot of flexibility. I think we can all agree he shouldn't return kicks ever again

Official NFL Draft Round 1 Thread - General Chatter
MechaZain replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't subscribe to this idea that there's a universal big board for the whole league. "BPA" is subjective and varies from team-to-team. Shaq is a possibly great player but now he has to prove that he was the best for the Panthers. I don't hate the pick. I just worry that even if the Panthers drafted Luke's clone it wouldn't do much for this team when the holes are so glaring. -
Taking time to evaluate a potential game changer is caring more about winning. I'd have no problem with them passing on him if they did that.
-
I agree but this is why it's upsetting that the Panthers are just ignoring him. Unless they've got the scoop that he's definitely going before 25, there's no excuse to not at least meet the kid before you make that call. Usually I hate the "not serious about winning" poo but it's hard to not feel that way when the possible answer to our prayers in a tall, speedy WR comes along and the organization seems like they don't even want to consider him.
-
Black helmets and midfield logo have a better shot. I just hope he gets drafted before us so it doesn't sting so bad.
-
At the Hornets game. Crowd erupted into a "LUUUUUUKE." Wonder what they could be chatting about.....
-
I like Ginn but some of ya'll are killing me acting like we should just ignore speedy recievers now. You realize he was on the team before and wasn't Randy Moss, right?
-
This is spot-on but to be fair to this crowd I don't think they ignore the team weaknesses. They seem to believe that a "franchise QB" should be able to overcome them and if Cam can't we should find someone who should. I get it but I think that's just flawed logic. The Panthers' weaknesses as a team are so anti-QB that there's no one in the league that I can confidently say could have done more than Cam has, and that's a testament to his talent. There's always room for improvement and no one has ever suggested otherwise.
