Official hey the Panthers are wearing black helmets GameDay Thread!
MechaZain replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Glad they won so I don’t have to hear about a black helmet curse -
They had other finalists for the job. The way they jumped to Clifford suggests that none of them wanted it after being passed up for Atkinson. It sucks but Kenny and Miles seriously boned us this season. With all these injuries I doubt JB would be doing much better though.

A QB who could take a beating was important when the o-line was paper mache. We need someone who can pass and this dude has elite accuracy.

Hindsight's 20/20. Without Clifford we likely wouldn't have found someone by the start of the season and would be legitimately tanking, which sounds appealing now but was less so back before Miles fugged everything up. Likewise we may have kept Jalen Duren if we had known about Miles then. I still think he was the right choice this team is just completely lost without LaMelo. He forces the pace and his teammates have to stay alert on offense when he's on the court. As well as DSJ is playing, no one in the league can replicate the way LaMelo moves the ball and that's our entire offense. I'm still optimistic that when he's back that high tempo offense + Clifford will lead to high effort on defense.

Lost all 3 of these home games

I posted the wrong report my bad. DSJ is not on it and Cody's upgraded to doubtful.
-
An update on Melo would be nice. Estimated recovery was 1-2 weeks and it's been a month.

Can't win without LaMelo and Gordon
-
He probably dodged a bullet not playing this season. I don't think any rookie QB would do well in the team's current state.

Who thinks Wilks and PJ are still the answers?
MechaZain replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
I won’t speak for Wilks huddle but Team PJ just wanted him over Baker, who would have cost us a draft pick to start and isn’t clearly better. It was the right call, sorry. I thought the Lavar Ball gifs and Super Bowl posts made it clear we were having fun with it but I’ll try harder next time. -

No one crowned him the franchise QB -
The Carolina Panthers are way further than “a QB away”

Naw it's how much stock you put into his preseason. Rhule neglected to prepare him and he had tryouts for teammates so some of us don't, that's all. If Ickey had gotten injured we'd be having the same discussion about him because a lot y'all were calling him a preseason bust too.

What’s your 2023 QB big board (including Corral)

I support rippa and his schtick. In fact he doesn't take it far enough. Where's the Corral avatar? -
Miles arrested on felony domestic violence
MechaZain replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Charlotte Hornets
If Miles truly dedicates himself to ending domestic violence and his family forgives him, I can too. And I don't mean just mandated community service and throwing money at an organization. Like really being a public advocate and making a difference with your platform. That's a "second chance" story that I could proudly get behind. I mention Vick a lot but Smitty is a good local example too. He's used his mistakes to make a positive impact with the work he's put into mental health awareness. -

Matt's already got a good attitude I don't see any benefit in Baker mentoring -
Name who's comparably rated in this class or gtfoh with this lame nonsense
-
Who's front and center. Y'all are absolute clowns if you're seriously suggesting that the Panthers made some sort of sleeper pick in Cam Newton.

One The Golden Calf of Bristol fanboy from Bleacher Report lmao. Ok bud. There were questions about Cam's character and whether he had the football IQ for the pros. I don't mean surefire as in he was considered a guaranteed success, literally no one is. But it didn't take genius to select the Lebron sized Heisman QB who had the greatest college season ever. The only ones since who have come in with comparable hype are Luck, RG3, and Lawrence.
-
Cam was coming off arguably the best season in the history of college football please tell me who in this class compares oh wise one

I have no doubt that Steven Gerald Clifford is going to trot out a LaMelo/DSJ/Martin/PJ/Nick lineup as soon as possible but no way is Dennis starting over Terry. And if Bouk is our 2 off the bench we really need DSJ's defense in the backcourt.

That's on the season the stat in the OP is just since week 6. Anybody got PFF+? I'm tryna see sumn
