  1. As far as season predictions, anywhere from 0 to 4 wins seems right.
  2. If you were ranking by lineups, I'm not sure this is a top-35 squad. A few second-string lineups are probably better. But I'll still hope for an improvement this year. No sense in throwing in the towel after a couple games.
  3. I don't think 36-year-old Andy Dalton is coming out throwing 3 TDs in the second half for a come-from-behind win. I'd take that, but it has even less odds of happening than Young putting up 3 TDs in a win or close loss.
  4. Week 1 is going to set this board on fire. It's not going to be pretty and it's best to stay away for a while, unless you prefer to drown your sorrows alongside a lot of people who'll be making as many short jokes as possible. I have negative expectations for this game, but I do think Week 2 will go better.
  5. That was Jerry Richardson's idea for a fight song. NFL teams had them back when he played. They don't really resonate 60-plus years later, though.
  6. Paul Finebaum is a far more respected pundit than Skip Bayless. Don't count out FSU yet, but they'd better figure it out quickly. There's no margin for error.
  7. Likable guy and a respected locker-room presence who's never gonna be a star, but he's been a competent-to-above average starter for years.
  8. As soon as I saw this thread I thought, "Ha, you're in for a surprise."
  9. I was going to comment earlier today how I felt like this roster is probably the least-talented roster this franchise has ever assembled -- and I still believe it -- but there's definitely a vested interest from the FO to improve the defensive depth and that's one place it was absolutely needed.
  10. Losing Coker could really come back to bite Morgan, but when you're going to be active on the waiver wire, as he has been, UDFAs are usually on the chopping block.
  11. I blame Tepper more than Reich for last year. I blame Tepper more than anyone, really.
  12. And it was a bit behind him, too. He should've caught it, but it was behind him a bit. If Young threw it, I doubt it'd be considered a drop on here. Probably a bad throw.
  13. Didn't see this anywhere this week and it looked like it's shared after every loss, so here it is after a win: https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2024/08/25/panthers-bills-preseason-2024-pff-grades/ Best of the Offense: 1. TE Jesper Horstead: 95.2 2. QB Jack Plummer: 90.4 3. WR Terrace Marshall Jr.: 87.4 4. TE Feleipe Franks: 83.5 5. QB Bryce Young: 82.2 Worst of the Offense: 29. WR Jonathan Mingo: 54.7 30. WR Michael Strachan: 54.3 31. RG Mason Brooks: 53.7 32. LT Tyler Smith: 44.5 33. WR Xavier Legette: 42.0 Best of the Defense: 1. DE Jayden Peevy: 89.7 2. OLB Luiji Vilain: 86.3 3. S Nick Scott: 83.2 4. ILB Shaq Thompson: 80.7 5. S Jordan Fuller: 71.7 Worst of the Defense: 30. OLB Derrick McLendon: 43.3 31. CB Chris Wilcox: 42.9 32. DT Shy Tuttle: 41.5 33. CB Troy Hill: 36.9 34. CB Quandre Mosely: 28.2
  14. Not according to some QB experts on here, who expect a 60-yard bomb in the red zone.
  15. 17 air yards would be the longest checkdown in NFL history. Maybe we've shifted the expectation that anything under 25 yards is a checkdown now. Wasn't sure.
  16. I thought this was an interesting thread and meant to reply Saturday, but forgot about it. I wouldn't have gotten too many of them right. Final results: Bryce Young will lead a scoring drive. Yes Bryce Young will lead a TD drive. Yes Bryce Young will have at least 50 pass yards. Yes The Panthers will have at least 1 passing TD. Yes (Three!) The starting unit (with QB) will have at least 3 drive attempts. No The starting OL will allow a sack. Yes (but not really; I felt like Young passed the LOS) XL will log 25+ rec yards. No Ja'Tavion Sanders will have more yards than XL. Yes Jack Not The Snake Plummer will have a TD pass. Yes (!!) Jordan Matthews will lead the team in rec yards. No ISM will lead the team in receptions. No Panthers starting D will allow 0 points to the Bills backups. No Panthers starting D will create at least 1 turnover vs the Bills backups. No Panthers starting D will log at least 1 sack vs the Bills backups. No The Panthers D will have at least 1 takeaway. No The Panthers D will limit the Bills to under 10 points (9 is their high). No Tie Breaker - Exact number of pass yards for Bryce Young 70 Tie Breaker #2 - Exact number of receiving yards for XL 0
  17. Young was running from a defender when Johnson made his cut, but Young saw he was open so once he rolled a few steps to the left, he threw it and got it to him.
  18. Feels so good to win a game again, regardless of circumstance.
  19. Coker should at very least be on the practice squad.
  20. I get that and it's not really an uncomfortable truth to me, it's just not an accurate statement. Like, I could say Zach Wilson had one of the best seasons by a veteran QB because he was one of the league leaders in fourth-quarter comebacks. That would be ridiculous, right? But it's the same principle: take one metric and use it as gospel. At the end of the day I'm no more tethered to Bryce Young than I was to any of his predecessors. He'll win games, or he'll get replaced.
  21. I appreciate your unwavering commitment to hyperbole and yes, saying he had one of the worst rookie seasons ever is indeed hyperbole, because what you've shared above is one metric in a sea of them. That's like saying a guy who had a slightly positive TD-INT ratio had one of the greatest seasons of all time. Clearly no one's going to change your mind, which is great, because that's not what I'm trying to do. Have a great one.
  22. Solid exaggeration. Probably not in the top 100 worst statistical seasons for a rookie QB. Young struggled enough, there's no sense in making false claims on top of it.
