By the way, enjoy Clowney, Horn and Thielen while you can. They'll be on IR next week with "injuries".

They haven’t made a decent Panthers hat in years.
I don't know why they make any in the first place. Make one for the first-round draft pick every year to wear at his press conference and that's enough. No one buys Panthers stuff.

The 2023 Carolina Panthers draft will go down as the worst single-season draft by any team in NFL history.
(so far...)

It's a long season. There's still a chance Canales shows some potential.
I don't think Canales did a bad job Sunday. He gave individual players opportunities to shine. Pretty much all of them failed. Young's first pass was a good play call to regain momentum, and it was bad in so many ways. That call of a reverse to Mingo was a great play call, and he of course fumbled, because he's terrible. Canales can't make a five-star meal with wet garbage.

0% chance they bench Bryce anytime soon.
They will give him a full season to prove himself. This team is not good going to Dalton does nothing.
Nah, Dalton will be in by December.

I'll bet he throws three perfect strikes to defensive backs on Sunday, and one good strike to Johnson.

Bryce Young is, by every account from those I know who've been around him, immensely pleasant and professional. I do not think players were strong-armed into voting him for captain, nor do I think that vote was rigged. He's more liked than people want to believe.
But this guy didn't start out great in the NFL, and he's regressed to sub-backup level. Awful footwork, no accuracy, poor decision-making. Didn't help a couple of his throws were to WRs (David Moore) who are not NFL-caliber WRs, but there are so many "Dude, you have to make that play" plays that it's ridiculous. I really saw improvement in a couple games down the stretch last year but it's like after Green Bay, he just kinda gave up and quit trying to improve. Then he comes out and plays well in the preseason finale -- but it was a smokescreen.
Time to go pick another bust.

Matt Corral would probably look like a stud in this offense.
Nah.

The only reason I still watch is for the hilarity of the train wreck. I want to see how bad it can get. I used to get mad when they lost games, now I just laugh. I want them to lose in the worst way possible once it appears the game is out of reach. I want Tepper to suffer maximum embarrassment for ruining something I used to love.
Well, you'll be the only type who's satisfied with the results every week!

By now, we should be experts on bouncing back from big losses. We just bounce the wrong way.
Bounce back by picking yourself up and letting it happen 16 more times.

he better be the starter all year, leave no doubt and get a good pick. Winning 6 games with dalton would be madness
You'd need to replace 17 starters to get 6 wins.

The only way Bryce is going to feel confident is being able to execute the game plan and find success. Can that happen?
Regrettably, the chances of that are absolute zero.

If we are going to be that bad, do you think Bryce will last the full season as the starter or be replaced?
He will get put on IR sometime in October. As bad as the quarterbacks are here, the defense is just as awful. One team has the worst QBs, DL, LBs, CBs and safeties even when healthy, and this team collects injuries like penalty yards, missed tackles and turnovers. You might see one reasonably close loss early in the year but from November on, every defeat will be by 3 scores or more.

We are going to suck but do you really think we are going to 0-17 suck?
Yes. Absolutely.

The 2025 Carolina Panthers are also going to go 0-17, but they're going to be a much better 0-17 than the 2024 edition. This team isn't going to lose a single game by less than 17-20 points.

How to move forward: forfeit

Trust me, they won't. We used to look back on 11-win seasons fondly. Soon, we'll look back on 5-win seasons fondly. Actually, we already do. Hell, we won't see five wins combined over the rest of the '20s.

I think by the end of the year, 47-10 is gonna be one of the closest final scores. And Bryce is throwing more than two interceptions on Sunday. Probably four. He'll get the hook around Week 7 and there's a distinct possibility he's got 0 TD and 14 INT by then, and a slight chance he ends the season with a QB rating below 30. And I like Bryce -- I wanted him to succeed. But it isn't going to happen.
That said, he'd go for 400 yards and 3 TDs against this defense.

63-0 final this week. 73-3 next week.

Can this be renamed "2024 College Football Thread"? I was looking for Week 2 and realized there wasn't one.

Guess The Winning Margin (From 30 to 100)

And to be fair, outside of saying his footwork was good, Canales was pretty critical of Bryce. Talked about the throws he kept missing.
Yeah I mean, he handled it the way a coach should handle it, not the way angry message-board fans want it handled. No one here is involved in the inner workings of this team and any guesses as to what's said behind closed doors are just that: guesses attempted to be passed off as fact, i.e. confirmation bias. People don't need to a coach's press conference to be told the QB and the defense are historically bad.
We need a rebuild, not a retool

You're 15 years away from being 10 years away. Forget rebuild. Just build for the first time.
