You attempted to make up justification for two stupid decisions. Call your cope whatever you like. It's still coping. Immediately discrediting every claim made against Morgan based on "no clue with regards to the inner office operations" isn't quite the maturity flex you think it is. None of us are privy to the inner workings of this team, and the flailing decisions speak to the high possibility there are no inner workings. And honestly, man, I wish we could justify all his moves, but some of them straight-up can't be. That trade was just bad, and you're not going to hell if you accept it as such.

- co-signed the McCaffrey trade: That doesn't count! - turned down the Rams: That doesn't count! - co-signed the Young trade: That doesn't count, either! - Young over Stroud: That doesn't count! - fleeced by the Giants: That doesn't count! - traded valuable picks for OL to pick an injured RB who's yet to play: That doesn't count! - gave up the team's best WR for nothing: He had no leverage! See? Nothing.

The Panthers had no leverage, so they shouldn't have handed him away for free. They gave him away for an embarrassing return. Just like McCaffrey. Just like Burns. There's also the inconvenient truth that the Panthers turned the Bears into a playoff contender with one trade. Those things happened, whether we want to pretend they did or not.

You're doing a Morganesque job of reading what's in front of you. I said I'm not rooting for him to fail, nor was I lashing out at you; if you make a poor claim, I'm within my bounds to respond to it. That's sort of the purpose of this forum. If I point out a guy did something poorly, I'm not "being a hater," but since you've already got your response cued up regardless of what's actually said, go ahead and call it "lashing out" again.

Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.

The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.

Yeah, and I do think that taking your kids to a game can make the experience more fun regardless of result.

Dan Morgan is an awful GM (and so was Scott Fitterer).

Even more convenient: there's nothing but dark times.

Bryce is starter Sunday per Canales presser
Joe Bear replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
35-3 Saints would be an improvement. Bet has been placed. Give us a few more of those roll-outs to the right for 3 yards on 3rd and 14! -
He showed more stats-wise, and in the eye test, just last Sunday than Mingo has in his career.

I've looked up this team's trade history since 2021 on PFR, and it's impressive. They've helped build the Bears into a playoff contender and restocked the talent pool at several other stops. In the meantime, they've gotten hilariously fleeced in 27 of 32 total trades (and all but one since 2022!), and destroyed their salary cap in the process. That's a level of front-office incompetence that would make Rachel Phelps jealous.

This is seriously what I want Morgan to do: 1) Never, ever, make another trade. Ever. Don't even pick up the phone. There are good negotiators, bad negotiators, and then Dan Morgan is 18 steps below them. 2) When negotiating salaries with free agents, walk out of the room when their agents arrive. Don't come back in until they've left. 3) Tell the Teppers that Shedeur Sanders will dazzle them at dinner in April, and he'll give them all the positive publicity they crave in May and June, but he'll be another Bryce Young. Don't draft him. 4) Again, when a team pitches a trade related to the draft, take every phone in the room and bash it with a hammer until it no longer works.

I'd imagine Morgan's safe as well. Successful, on the other hand, is a 0.0% possibility. Full Blutarsky.
-
This. There's no light at the end of this franchise's tunnel. They'll pick first for the next three years and have nothing to show for it but an extra third-round pick courtesy of Negotiatin' Dan, and two guys on other teams' practice squads.
-
I'm with you. Ward will be a great player...once he falls in the Patriots' or Titans' laps. Sanders or whatever other schlub Nicole gets a crush on in April will be a sideline correspondent for ESPN in three years.
-
Sanders checks every box for Tepper: - Style over substance - Brings plenty of media attention - Doesn't have an NFL arm - Deion comes packaged as the DB coach after Evero gets fired That's gonna be absolutely hilarious to watch. Either that, or he picks a shitty DL and Negotiatin' Dan trades this No. 1 and next year's No. 1 for Tennesee's No. 3 and calls it "trading down".
-
The top 10 players on the Panthers' payroll are always on other teams' rosters, and the other teams get free draft picks to carry them, too. I'm good with Morgan sticking around for another year because I want to see his and Tepper's reaction when the Sanders pick blows up in their face just like everything else.
-
I would not re-sign Dalton, nor would I draft Shedeur Sanders and his Shedheads. Having said that, Tepper/Morgan will re-sign Dalton, draft Shedeur Sanders and either 1) trade him to the Lions for a 2026 first (therefore moving down 25-30 draft slots, Morgan's specialty) or 2) keep him and watch him become Bryce Young 2.0.
-
They do this every year and are always shocked at how awful they look. Every. Year.
-
There's a lot of trash in the front office.
-
I'm of the mind that he's better at drafting than he is at trading.
-
Careful, the Fan Police will see that.
-
At this rate, potential No. 1 picks should be clamoring to get drafted here. You'll get paid well, you can ball out for a year and then get traded to a better team, plus the Panthers will still pay you so that better team can get even better.
-
Fitterer should've gotten 0. I'm fine with Morgan getting another year. Won't make a difference either way, so let's see what other trades he can make to destroy any cap room.
