Bryce Young is a problem — what would you do if you were Dan Morgan?
Joe Bear replied to OldhamA's topic in Carolina Panthers
Which is why Canales needs to be told he's canned unless he starts running the fuging ball on 2nd and 2 or 2nd and 1. Pisses me off so much to see Hubbard get 8-9 yards, then dial up a deep throw where nobody's open, Young forces it and gets sacked or picked. -

The only reason I disagree is with a washed Dalton you're getting a different side of the same coin. They made this bed. Time to sleep in it. -

Besides, if he has a good game in a week or two 1/4 of the Huddle will be back on the bandwagon anyway. -

I say this as a HUGE Dan Morgan fan -- but I gotta keep it a buck. He's made some good moves but if this year's draft pans out like last year's, his seat will be white-hot and justifiably so. He's made some moves I thought were great (fleecing Dallas in the Mingo trade), some I thought were stupid but ended up being pretty good (Johnson trade) and then some I was indifferent about that ended up being stupid (the entire 2024 draft). -

Dalton loves it here and so does his family. He's said so before. He'll retire a Panther. -

If I were Dan I would consider drafting better players instead of future UFL rejects. -
This is definitely true. He's gone from one extreme to another in that now, he'll ignore a wide-open checkdown to throw into triple coverage.

Go ahead and book your appointment.

It's even more simple than that. I don't think the playbook magically opens up for Dalton (and a 40-7 loss among other losses proves it), but defenses don't need to even execute well. Disguise your coverage every snap and as soon as the ball is snapped, it's like Young is wearing a blindfold. He has no idea what to do. I blame him for a lot of that but it's not just him. It's Canales insisting on throwing the ball every 2nd-and-short, every 3rd-and-short, poo like that. Like I said, they deserve one another.

Hammering the other team's ML (and almost always the spread) every Sunday at least offers me some monetary consolation.

Separate the struggles in the pass game for a second and just look at the playcalling and the lack of urgency on Canales' side. He was woefully outcoached by a rookie HC for the Jaguars, a team who did not impress me for most of the game. Anybody -- even 5-6 college teams -- can run for 200 yards on the Panthers. The Panthers won't have five sacks this season as a team. But look at the stupid offensive calls, the abject failure when it comes to situational awareness, and it's clear Young is not the only one who's not deserving of trust. But hey, remember that the next coach and QB will suck just as much. So no sense in being too harsh to either of them, I guess.

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?
Joe Bear replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is why it doesn't matter if Young is cut, traded or starts, or if Canales is fired or given a contract extension. The results will always be the same. The team hires shitty coaches and acquires shitty QBs. Fine by me to churn again, but at least you and I know it won't make a single bit of difference to the W-L column. -
No. Neither of them trust one another, and I think you know that. They're also both in over their heads at this point.

This is how you get 20 straight 10-loss seasons. Years and years of bad drafts.

All six of Nic Scourten’s pass rush attempts yesterday
Joe Bear replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
He probably doesn’t. Remember this is the same team that had coaches stabbing each other in the back less than two years ago. I can’t imagine any of the other 31 franchises being remotely this toxic and dysfunctional and that’s before we even bring up records and stats. -
If they can't read a defense or wisely call plays based on the situation, a Carnegie course will only do so much.

I meant that it's low to criticize someone for using "um" repetitively when a vast majority do it. I doubt you're a well-respected orator among all your peers.
-
I think you're assigning your opinion to others in this case. The rookies have played one game and only one pick did anything of substance.
-
People have different words they use to stall while organizing their thoughts. He deserves plenty of criticism for his performance but the speaking is kinda low.
-
Corbett doesn't deserve excuses. He was dogshit. Give Young two inches of height and bad snaps are still bad snaps. Not that the good snaps led to much anyway.

Who cares? Sixteen more games to finish the story. We all have our predictions and our rankings and at the end of the day, the numbers will be what they are.

I like Dan, too. Big fan of having a former Pro Bowl LB be the GM. But his story has not been a successful one in any facet. Made one good trade, one good pick and one good UDFA pickup so far (could be two each of the last ones if Scourton/Thornton pan out).

That's the second-worst part about all this. I truly like Bryce, Canales and Legette. They're easy to root for on a personal level. But they're just completely inept.
