  1. The fact that he called it like that with his career on the line is the reason I jumped off the Wilks train.
  2. I thought it was a little odd that we were interviewing DC candidates before we even had a HC in place. Maybe Fangio is already on board?
  3. Pretty much. I'm just so relieved it's not Wilks of Payton, that I'm somewhat happy with it. My low Panthers expectations are paying off.
  4. It really surprised me how good he's been at it. Not that he wasn't articulate, but he used to have Keuchly syndrome where he would say, "Y'know?." 50 times per sentence like he wasn't comfortable speaking publicly. He's been outstanding, though.
  5. Yards per point was the stat PathersFan4Life used to use as a metric for why TeeBow was better than Cam. Is that you PFFL? lol
  6. If you want opportunities, you don't punt to Tom Brady rather than taking a shot at a play at midfield with a 70% success rate....with your career on the line.
  7. OP, the thread title triggered some folk's PTSD from 2 decades of Fox/Rivera. I get what you mean. Luckily for us, our OL has potential to establish a great running game that would be a great compliment to an OC that can scheme a receiver open every now and again.
  8. Word from the insiders is that Nicole Tepper thinks that Steichen is “dreamier.”
  9. Imagining Russ and Cap'n Vicodin crashing and burning in Denver is magically delicious.
  10. Because he's overrated. He had a HOF QB for 14 years and only won one SB that was gifted to them because of a storm. Also, No head coach has ever won a SB with two different teams, so statistically it's really unlikely that he'd be great here, especially without a Drew Brees and the ability to run an illegal bounty program.
  11. I will never stop being a fan, but I will say, hiring Wilks or any coach that has a conservative offensive philosophy will reduce me to casual fan status. I've watched that movie too many times.
  12. It's not like we have a bunch of prototypical 4-3 studs. If we were going to switch, now would be as good of a time as any.
  13. Until we sign a few more man corners to use in a soft zone, I don't think Fitts will address QB.
  14. Hell yeah, man. I think you're the first person to notice it. In over a decade lol
  15. “I need a new guy to run it up the gut thrice in a row to set up a good punt.”
  16. It's not dumb on Tepper's part. The math is simple. I've been saying it for years. Conservative, play not to lose, defensive minded coaches gets you .500. John Fox career win percentage = .520 Ron Rivera = .521 That's a two decade sample size right there. Defensive coaches that seem to not be dead set on conservative offenses (Bellichick/McDermott) are the special outliers that can win.
  17. Fitting that Wilks went .500. He follows the tradition of Mister .500 Fox and Mister .500 Junior Rivera. If that's your standard, Wilks is your guy.
  18. At least Ron would go riverboat when he was in desperation mode. Wilks decides to punt to tee up Tom Brady from the 50 with his career on the line. If Tepper hires Wilks, I’m reverting back to casual fan and will only bother aggravating myself watching if they make the playoffs.
  19. Merry Christmas, you beautiful, panther lovin’ sonsofbitches
  20. Also, I think the days of a decent athlete never having to enter a classroom are over. I think even Chapel Hill basketball players have to pretend to be students occasionally nowadays.
  21. Me too. I think it's because we really want our team to curb stomp the Stillers in front of all the bandwagon NC fans. But as Panthers fans, we hardly ever get anything we really want.
  22. We gave up on Rhule before he could give his "van down by the river" speech, which was usually the catalyst for the turning point.
  23. If we retain Wilks, that's all a QB has to do. He would ask the same out of Patrick Mahommes.
  24. I guess we have another decade of "play not to lose" Foxball incoming. Beat the bad teams, get smoked by the good ones. Winning season every other year, playoff push every 5 if we happen to draft well. It's sad that the Rhule experiment has us so traumatized that we're ecstatic to have another "Mister .500"
