As a Panthers fan, I want him to become a franchise QB. Realistically, I just can’t see it happening. I hope I’m wrong. What I don’t want is for this team to be in below average QB purgatory for years, i.e. Daniel Jones syndrome.

Yeah, the notion that you can get great guards and RBs on day 3 of the draft is Huddle/internet folklore. Sure, it happens sometimes....by teams that draft way better than the Panthers. Dan's first draft seems promising. If he's going to succeed as a GM he's going to have to have really goods drafts, with tying a lot of money in guards and RBs.

Agreed. I keep expecting him to revert back to his previous tendencies. Maybe he’s just plain good now.

Yeah, elite 3-4 nose tackles are as hard to find as elite 4-3 DEs. But there’s only one instead of two, so I guess we got that going for us lol

We’ll see how well that money was spent in the near future when we can’t get assets elsewhere because we have too much cap invested in IOL for a QB who isn’t on the roster anymore. as far as Hurney goes, I sure can discount his first round ability, because guess who else has great first round draft ability? Me, and I’m an idiot. The only time I disagreed with Hurndog’s 1st rounders was in 2012. I wanted Fletcher Cox over Keek. I’ll call that a tie although I could argue long term Cox would have been a better pick.

True. I just think big money guards were an attempt to make the offense viable for Bryce Young and the reason they ended up here is because other teams are smarter than to sink that $ into IOL, but I get your point.

Giving Dan credit for our Oline is almost as bad as peoples' praise for Hurney's perennial top 5 1st round picks.

If I were GM, I'd immediately fire Canales and hire anyone who would take the job, which would probably be a college assistant special-teams coordinator, depending on how good his wife's meatballs are. I would switch us back to a 4-3, them immediately switch back to a 3-4, then back to a 4-3 again after the draft. I would sign 2 more overpriced guards and draft running backs in the first two rounds of the draft. Then use the third and fourth round picks to move back into the 2nd for another running back. Line backer in round 5, long snapper in round 6. Then watch the Lombardi's come rolling in. Dynasty.

If we could draft decent guards, we wouldn't need to have the most expensive OL in the league.

I didn’t watch the second half. What did Bryce do that was shiny? Box score didn’t look shiny. Is Newton just making poo up?

The only way we were going to win this game was to run the ball. We ran it successfully then abandoned it. Did we run it on second down at all in the first half? I hate going to a Riverfoxwilks game plan, but it would have been the way to go given the state of our defense

Like a lot of teams, we draft guys with explosiveness and measurables when we should be drafting route running technicians with great hands.
