Corey has made plays, just expected of him now, no longer news. The only way Byrd leap frogs him on the roster is if Damiere kills it on punt returns all preseason. Brown has not fielded a single punt this camp. And even then, I doubt he would take Corey's place.

Todman is more than just for kickoffs. Seriously, the guy has been very impressive in camp.

I agree. Rivera has said he prefers guys he has gone to battle with. Byrd will have to impress on the PS for a while and take advantage of his chances if there is an injury me thinks.

Not really. Don't pay any attention to that depth chart. Every Panthers staffer will tell you that. Cotch has gotten as many first string snaps as Brown if not more.

10 is the limit, but the Panthers may pick up one or two from someone else's roster.

He was on the bubble coming into this year and has missed all of camp due to injury. I am pulling for him, but it is an uphill battle at this point.

You haven't seen Todman. Out of the three, Todman is the most different. CAP and Fozzy are very similar.

Byndom has looked good again this camp. Getting tons or reps. I don't see anyone left on the training camp roster that I would remove him for. Todman has an extra gear of speed that none of the other backs have. It is obvious on the field. Also, he appears to be better than Fozzy in pass protection as well.

Week two has come and gone in training camp and the roster projection remains fluid. Here is an up to date look at what the Carolina Panthers could be thinking as far as their roster goes. During team drills today, Devin Funchess was struggling to get separation on routes in the corner of the end zone. When matched up against CB Carrington Byndom, Funchess was unable to make the play. Afterwards, Ricky Proehl pulled Funchess aside and gave him a little one on one coaching. Proehl used his elbow and forearm on Funchess to demonstrate a push off that will not draw a flag. Proehl's arm never extended (an extended arm on a receiver will usually draw a flag). Instead, there were quick sharp jabs with the forearm, enough to set a corner back off balance just enough to make a play. I have said it once, and I will continue saying it. Ricky Proehl is a real asset to the Carolina Panthers. You will not find a more hands on and knowledgeable wide receivers coach in the NFL. Ted Ginn and Josh Norman have been going at every day in Panthers training camp. Today, Ted Ginn had the upper hand. On a fly route, Ginn was able to get just enough separation to make a fantastic catch from a Cam Newton pass for 30 yards. Josh Norman really could not have played better defense. He was in Ginn's hip pocket the entire play, just where he needed to be. Ginn just made a fantastic play that defenses will give up from time to time. After the catch, Ginn held the ball high signaling he still had the ball. When he got up, Ginn spun the ball in a "Steve Smith-esque" type move, letting Norman subtly know he had been bested. This type of play is exactly what was missing from the Panthers offense for the majority of last season. Just the threat of having Ted Ginn out wide should open up things for Cam a great deal. Not at all. That Heath guy has looked better, imo.

He actually seems to be a really friendly guy outside of the whistles. The other day he was tossing a football with a "panthers pals" kid and seemed like a big kid himself. Was really enjoying just a game of catch. A gentle giant of sorts... when he needs to be.

Day 10 of Panthers training camp. It goes by quickly, doesn't it? Today's practice was very light, nothing ground breaking to report. I expect tomorrow's may be just a light in preparation for the first preseason game of the year at Buffalo on Friday. Cam Newton jogged onto the field quickly today, avoiding all media and fans. This was pretty much his strategy throughout the day, give the members of the press nothing to write about. I spotted Ted Ginn on the field giving Damiere Byrd some one on one instructions on punt returns. One had to wonder if Ted sees a little bit of himself in the young receiver. Cam Newton was all smiles while on the field. Neither he nor his teammates showed any sign that yesterday's altercation would be bleeding over into today. Coach Rivera and Luke Kuechly also seemed to be in great moods. The Cam/Kelvin/Devin exclusive club is still in tact. These three players meet on the opposite field to work on end zone plays at every practice. This is an exclusive drill, invitation only. Devin Funchess had one of his better days today, making several nice catches. Devin's progress has not been as quick as Kelvin's rookie year, but he has made progress, slowly but surely. Josh Norman made more plays on the football today, proving yesterday's news had no impact on his focus. Luke Kuechly was rather vocal at times in team drills, yelling plays and adjustments to his defensive players. Ed Dickson has had a few nice practices in a row now after a slow start. Dickson came on strong at the end of the year and was re-signed to another year this offseason. It looks like he may build on his late season momentum this fall. Daryl Williams continues to turn heads. He has looked as solid as any rookie lineman in recent memory. Assistant O-Line coach Ray Brown had a nice chuckle with Williams after practice. You have to hand it to Cam Newton, the man knows how to make an entrance... and sometimes vanish without a trace. In a pretty hilarious moment after practice today, to avoid the unusually large number of media that came out to camp today (wonder why?) , Cam used Ted Ginn's jersey , pads, and his fellow teammates to disappear from sight. Shaq Thompson today intercepted his first pass in training camp. During an end zone drill play,Thompson read the play and reacted. The result was a Derek Anderson interception and room to run. Thompson also made a nice play on a Cam Newton scramble at the end of practice. Thompson stayed home and kept in position to make the tackle if needed. Keeping more mobile QBs at bay could fall under Thompson's jurisdiction throughout the season. His speed and agility would be an ideal fit for the QB spy position. Funchess is coming along more slowly than Kelvin did. Then again, he is running a wider variety of routes.
