  1. Matthew McCaskill of Fort Bragg practiced with the Carolina Panthers today. The seven year old McCaskill through the Make a Wish Foundation was welcomed by his favorite player, Kelvin Benjamin. McCaskill's father is currently enlisted at Fort Bragg. Like all new players, Benjamin and McCaskill compared past injuries and stories. Then, after a quick warm up they sat together eating energy bars and taking in the day's action. After practice, McCaskill played a little catch with Cam Newton, who stayed after practice to meet the young man. Cam, seeing McCaskill was an accomplished receiver began calling hot routes, not taking it easy on the rookie. The play selection ended in a touchdown which earned a well deserved fist bump from Newton. McCaskill is currently battling a heart condition. His wish was to practice with the Carolina Panthers. 2. John Fox used to really feed it when fights broke out. Often he would line up the participants across from each other the very next play instead of sitting them. lol
  3. It has to be frustrating not being able to go full out at all.
  4. There were two skirmishes today. I didn't get a clear view of the first. The second, I saw very clearly. Kony Ealy was lined up on the first team right end across from Michael Oher. The play didn't look out of the ordinary to me, but Ealy clearly took offense to how Oher was playing him. Ealy got in an extra shove at the end at which point Oher just started to bull doze him. As players intervened Ealy got in a last second large swing in a tomahawk chop kind of motion. I don't think it landed. As the players rushed in to break it up, Cam Newton posed for the media in a joking way smiling ear to ear, knowing he was obstructing the view a bit. After the fight was broken up, Star Lotulelei looked aggravated and was giving the offensive line a thorough tongue lashing. Its not often you see such emotion from Star.
  5. Would make sense. Kelvin would be an amazing over the middle possession guy.
  6. Thank you. I am not getting fat fast enough.
  7. Yep. Been trying to explain to everyone how much more fluid he is than Kelvin. The video does it nicely I think.
  8. I would imagine that is the case with all rookie corners. Bene is a big dude. He may not be tall, but he is built like a linebacker and has a great vertical. Kid is a baller. Keep him out there.
  9. Might take a couple months if the past is any indicator.
  10. Keep seeing tweets from media and others on how he is still the nickel. I can tell you he intends to make a push for a starting CB position, as he said as much in no uncertain terms to us on the huddle podcast. Bene is a top talent at corner. Not sure why you would want to limit his snaps to 30% of overall plays (buffalo package being the main nickel package the Panthers use lately)
  11. To be fair, the defense played like complete poo for half of a season last year.
  12. I don't expect much out of dudes until they are at least 25 when their brain is finally fully developed biologically.
  13. Excellent content. Wish you would have made it a blog post for longevity sake.
  14. If the Huddle has the national exposure of the espn panthers site I would have a staff of 5 writers and a huddle office that features full benefits, work when you want as long as your stuff gets done, a pool table, and kittens in the jaccuzi. (This is the long term goal btw)
  15. The Carolina Panthers offensive line depth chart has become a little more clear now that the OTA practices have come to an end and the Panthers Mini-Camp is set to begin. Here is how the depth chart is shaking out according to my eyes and notes... View full article
  16. One of the more interesting stories of the 2015 Carolina Panthers OTA sessions has been the improvement of Corey Brown at the wide receiver position. A few days ago during practice I was standing next to Bill Voth of BBR discussing Brown's improvement. We came to the conclusion that the best sign of his arrival as a player was the fact that we were no longer really taking note of his receptions. Meaning, Corey Brown making plays had become routine, not noteworthy. That is a true sign of a player's growth. After the final Panthers OTA practice, I wanted to speak to Corey about his growth and his thoughts of the receivers group as a whole. So I waited, and waited, and waited a bit more. You see, Corey was across the field catching one handed passes with the defensive backs..... View full article
  17. I wish this would die a horrible death.
  18. Stop calling him Philly, he doesn't like it. I asked him about Devin. That will be in the writeup tomorrow.
  19. Well, its the last practice of the week. Many have flights to catch.
