Official Saints at Panthers Gameday Thread
Jeremy Igo replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Time to put on some Panthers blue -
It is a wet, wet day my friends. Bank of America Stadium has been steeping in precipitation for a few nights now. Expect a fun, sloppy game. As such, here is the run down for today... The Panthers cannot win today if they are asleep at home. - Wear Helmets. If the Panthers show up today without helmets they may not win. - Hike the football. I chuckle whenever I hear guys ask about benching or squating. Actual athletes don't care about that crap. -

For the first time in many seasons, Saints fans are no where to be found on the Huddle talking up their team. As such, I have gone over to our little sister site SaintsReport and pulled a few of the comments from Saints fans for you. :( :( :( no no, make no mistake, this year's Saints are a very bad team. Losing to Tampa Bay at home is more than poor coaching. Indeed. Overall, the vast majority of Saints fans can be summed up like this... or this.... View full article

KK Short leads the defensive rankings, which reflects what we all saw on the field. Kurt Coleman also had a good game including deflecting the final pass to end the game. Looking at the bottom of the grades, notice they are all the oldest players on the defense.... in fact, you could pretty much split this chart in half , top to bottom, with younger players up top and older players below. This week's offensive grades from PFF highlight why their grading system should be taken with a very large grain of salt. One only needs to see Cam Newton with a negative grade to realize they are very subjective and lack context in the grading. Who: Houston Texans at Carolina Panthers When: 1:00 Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte NC TV: CBS Radio: 1110WBT I will be tweeting from the field pregame. Follow @CarolinaHuddle on twitter. Keys to Panthers Victory: Special Teams Play - This looks like a close match up. The difference in the game could come down to a special teams play. A blocked punt, a missed field goal, a great return. Something along these lines will be the difference. Protect Cam - For all that is holy, please keep JJ Watt off of Cam Newton. Pressure Mallet - Ryan Mallet is a pick machine waiting to happen if the Panthers can rattle him early. A feeding frenzy could occur. Prediction: Panthers - 13 Texans - 3 View full article

Off today, should get a glimpse tomorrow.
-
Keep in mind those secondary grades are with almost zero pass rush most of the game. Imagine when Star is back and pressure is there.
-
Star is so darn important. Also, Chuck always seems to start the year slow doesn't he.
-
Josh Norman leads the defensive rankings this week, which should be obvious. Dwan Edwards and Kyle Love are at the bottom, highlighting a real need for Star to be healthy soon. PFF was not as forgiving of Kony Ealy as Ron Rivera was. Rivera stated Ealy was doing more of the grunt work, but his lack of pass rush remains a problem. Panthers right tackle Mike Remmers had the best performance of the day, according to PFF at least (take with a grain of salt). Worst Performance? Michael Oher , which many of us could have predicted. The Panthers had only two players in the red including Trai Turner who was dinged up a bit during the game. This is a big improvement over last season as far as PFF grades go. Here are the grades... Well, week two is upon us. This week the 0-1 Texans come to Bank of America stadium to face the 1-0 Panthers. The Panthers fought through adversity and a tough defense in Jacksonville to pull off a 20-9 victory. The Texans were dominated at home by the Kansas City Chiefs. Don't let the final score fool you, the score was 27-9 into the 4th quarter. Slop time points make the result seem closer than it was. First of all, The Houston Texans organization week 1 OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD on their own website had 920 comments and 28,000 views. The Huddle week 1 OFFICIAL GAMEDAY THREAD had 2,059 comments and 53,750 views. Apparently the Huddle doubles them up. Well what are they saying over there? Observe... Wait... is this serious? Someone should inform Charles Johnson, Thomas Davis, Shaq Thomson, Josh Norman, Bene Benwikere, KK Short, Mario Addison... yada yada But most of the time currently within the Texans fan base is discussing a quarterback controversy. They are trying to decide which quarterback, Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett, is less awful. View full article

Panthers vs Jaguars Kickoff is at 1:00 in Jacksonville. The weather here is amazing. 80 degrees and sunny for the game with low humidity. I will be tweeting from the field today. Follow @CarolinaHuddle on twitter. The Panthers today have a very winnable game and the opportunity to start fast in the race for the division. The most difficult portion of the schedule begins in a few weeks. It is extremely important to win these games against lesser opponents. Keys to Victory - - Run early, run often. With two very capable running backs on the roster and an improved offensive line, the Panthers should be able to move on the ground. - Stretch the field - At least one big play of 30+ yards is needed today from Ginn or Brown. The Panthers cannot face 8 in the box all season long and expect to win. - Kony Ealy - Ealy must show why he earned the starting right end position. Charles Johnson and KK Short will be double teamed at times. Ealy must win his 1 on 1 matchup. View full article
