all of a sudden we have a crowded WR room but I'm pulling for him. Good kid, went to Socastee High, near Myrtle Beach, then to Clemson and I think really surprised everyone that he got drafted and did well. Fun player to watch too. Hope he makes it. I expect Thielen to retire after this season, Hunter could be a good replacement.

Everyone wants to know what happened to Hunter Renfrow. He went from the Pro Bowl in 2021 to an afterthought in 2022 and 2023 to out of the league in 2024. Renfrow ow is attempting a comeback with the Panthers. “It’s just trying to get back, trying to get healthy, trying to do something I love,” Renfrow told Darin Gantt of the team website when asked about a year out of the game. “I enjoyed other parts of life. We had our second daughter, so enjoying that and just wanting to make sure if I’m going to come back and give my time and attention to something that I was going to be all in on it.” Renfrow, 29, revealed that he has dealt with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, which left him with weight loss, fatigue and high fever. It’s a reason he did not play last season. Instead, Renfrow spent a year consulting with doctors and getting the condition under control. “It kicked my butt pretty good,” Renfrow said. “Last year, I fluctuated in weight. I went down to 150 pounds. I had like seven straight days of 103-degree fevers. It’s tough to play when you’re not feeling great.” He now weighs 187 with a goal of a playing weight of 185. “It’s a weird feeling. It makes you grateful for the times that you do feel good,” Renfrow said. “It makes you grateful for the opportunities that you’ve had, and when you feel like you’ve been blessed with some skill to go out there and perform, it makes you not want to waste the opportunity that you have. And that was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back and play.” In five seasons, Renfrow has 269 receptions for 2,884 yards and 17 touchdowns. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/hunter-renfrow-a-health-challenge-led-to-time-away-from-football

NAS started following Before Shadeur Sanders there was Ryan Mallet

I am feeling optimistic for sure. But at this point in time in Panthers fandom talk is cheap and seeing is believing.
-
I mean, I just have to agree to disagree. XL did not look good at all. Coker was great but I guess we need to see if he develops into a real, long term top 3 WR or not. I have hope for him. Sanders is hard to say. Started terrible, turned around quickly and then post scary injury he just disappeared. Really hard to get a read on him. RB I am not worried about. But that's not really a position I ever really worry about. You should ALWAYS be able to plug in a capable back for a decent deal. I would say that our roster is predominantly questions and not answers. Let's hope the 2026 offseason is more answers than questions.

I haven't watched a full game, but we know he likes to hit. Damm! -
As a solo act I can agree with this. I've seen so many of his prank videos from back about 15 years or so ago and I have to give that guy infinite kudos and praise for creating not just one or two but multiple hilarious characters all on his own. And he was spectacular at it both on the phone and in person. If he still has all his old pranks on his channel you can go down a rabbit hole and laugh for hours. He's like the Mike Judge of pranks. Legend as far as I'm concerned.

I think it was more about drawing attention to everything Sanders. Playing Hunter both ways got them eyeballs that just Hunter the WR or Hunter the DB doesn't get them. And it's not close.
-
Now, now. We still have Camp Crush season to go, and all the unrealistic expectations and unrealized flashes of potential that go with it to influence our better judgements. Don't forget about the preseason being a magical time when dreams come true.

Reliving his college career through Hunter lol

yep. But his primary advisor has been the guy that helped Sheuder get drafted in round 5.
-
If I was Hunter, I'd have come out as a receiver. There's no reason to choose CB over WR. WR pay scale is higher and the game favors offense.
-
Julius Peppers was criticized for taking plays off too. In the long run it means nothing and has no impact on the game. When he's catching clutch 3rd down passes you won't care that he "took off" a 1st down pass that went to Thielen.
-
Anyone who thinks Hunter is going to be a full time two way player in the NFL is delusional.
-
I don't know. You got Shaq Thompson out there pulling off back to back 100 yards at RB and then jumping in to play LB. I'm sure Shaq Thompson back then could go all day long without contact on a football field

I can tell you EXACTLY where we'd be, as it would have been one of two things to happen. DK Metcalf would be a Panther right now as we'd have made sure to beat out whatever offers were made for him as we'd have that desperate for WR help. Or we'd have still drafted T-Mac but probably would have needed to trade up to get him, as instead of the world thinking we were taking Carter or another defender, everyone with half a brain would have known T-Mac was our top target and some team would have bluffed another trading up to get him to get us to give up picks for him.
-
I didn't know about his health issue. That sort of makes what happened w/ the Raiders make a lot of sense and why he sort if went totally MIA last offseason w/ no workouts/looks.
-
That's surprising to hear. If it took a while to get the T-Mac ones out there I'd have understood, because nobody knew who we would draft, if we took a defensive player there would have been much less demand for jerseys, so stocking up on material the last few months might not have been a smart decision. But when you trade for the #1 pick as long before the draft as we did, and knowing it would be for a QB, I'd think they'd have been stocking up so they could be ready to go right away.

Lol bear down and keep pounding is hilarious

Well, sure, nothing you're saying is incorrect (and yes, professional soccer players would run circles around any NFL player conditioning wise). But if we're comparing Hunter to just NFL prospects, he still might be the best conditioned player to come into the league. Even if he did tire towards the end of games, which would be expected, the overwhelming majority of players couldn't come close to doing what he did and play that many snaps every game. And yes, while WR and CB may be relatively light on contact, they are the two positions you actually run the most on the field and thus require greater conditioning/endurance than other positions. I also agree that he won't be able to play both ways full time, at least long term, but I think it's less about tiring out in games/seasons, as much as I don't think he'll be able to do it and stay healthy. Every season he plays both ways full time, it's the equivalent of playing two seasons for any other player. So if he plays both ways for 5 seasons, he just put 10 seasons worth of wear and tear on his body. His best chance at a great career is a Terrell Davis type, short but super elite before his body just tapped out.

I say about 7ish wins. Give or take. I think the Panthers are still fundamentally in no mans land on offense where the QB doesn't match the playcaller/talent. I think the D moves from horrible to average.
