  1. Past hour
  2. I think they want to trade down, but im not sure it will happen
  3. This my last mock probably. Tried to emulate what I think they want to do tomorrow and later on. Picks based off visits and meetings. Would be great if it works out this way.
  4. I believe we will trade down and get a top 15 2nd round pick.
  5. so I assume you prioritize need over BPA. Not here to argue with you btw, just pointed out earlier why the Panthers would consider DT@8 since it "doesn't make sense" to you. It's pretty obvious to me. No-one here knows how Brown will rebound btw.
  6. I've seen him go before us and extremely deep into round 1. It's going to be how desperate a team is, especially if N. O. shows interest or no interest trying to hid their intentions. Just like every draft it's all smoke and mirrors.
  7. Today
  8. If you don’t understand there is a difference between “wanting to fix the run defense” and “DT is the position of priority” for us, then I don’t know what else to tell you. When you have a Derrick Brown and so many other holes, I can never see DT being the position of priority in the draft, and that’s not saying we can’t take one, but it should be far from our main priority
  9. We’re going to be terrible next season. Draft the player that will be helping us the most 2-3 years from now, not next season. Wharton shouldn’t be preventing us from drafting anyone.
  10. I believe that we will trade down especially if Sanders is still available and someone wants to jump in front of New Orleans.
  11. The moving up/down talk always goes crazy the closer it gets to the draft because it's the most interesting thing to talk about for the media heads. Once it gets to draft night none of these moves end up happening. I'd say the odds are still heavily in favour of us picking at 8.
  12. if it still doesn't make sense to you that they want to fix the run defense, I don't know what else to tell you. They have only been preaching that specifically since the end of the season. It didn't make sense when we drafted JStew at the time either
  13. Hampton is going to Denver. Payton is going to turn him into an All-Pro. Both are 1st round talents but I think Hampton is going to have a better career especially if he ends up in Denver.
  14. Your point? We didn’t have Brown at all last year, so we are basically already adding one all pro level DT to the team this year. I’m not even saying we don’t need another, but just that I can’t see how it’s a priority position for us high in the draft because of Brown.
  15. I don't buy that Morgan or anyone else said we'd give a F'ING discount. That's the most absurd thing I have heard all week. No front office is going to say that. Probably more networks trying to manipulate the draft. I CALL B. S.
  16. If we aren't getting an early to mid 2nd round pick then I say no deal. A 3rd doesn't help us. This could also be a smokescreen. By saying there have been talks of us trading down would make a team want to move up and offer a good trade package.
  17. So the guy as a career year and Detroit wants to trade him. Doubt they get much for HIM. With his off the field issues Detroit will be lucky to get a 6th or 7th out of him.
  18. One show I saw say there was something about him but they didn't elaborate. I believe Star was 8 as well. If Graham is everything they say. With him and Brown collapsing the pocket it will open things up for Clowney and the rest of our edge rushers.
  19. The Lions are not in a “forward thinking” mode right now, they are in a win a Super Bowl THIS season mode. I’m from the Detroit area, you don’t understand how much this city is starving for a Super Bowl, they don’t care about the future right now, they care about maximizing their window right now, this season. You also say it’s the last chance to get something good, but that’s nonsense, this is a 24 year old with legitimate Top 15 WR potential. Teams were lined up to trade high draft picks for Higgins or Garrett Wilson if either came available, both of whom would need brand new big contracts. If Williams improves and plays 17 games next year while staying out of trouble, he’s would basically be in the same situation as Higgins the last 2 years, except with a higher potential ceiling and the 5th year option instead of back to back tags because he was a 2nd rounder. Which is why if the Lions didn’t have concerns about him, they exercise the 5th year option and keep him this year. Because if he has the expected season, he’s 100% bringing back a 1st rounder next year as a 25 year old not even reaching his prime yet, or they keep him for one year on a bargain bin value contract for the production. Thats why if the Lions are the ones looking to move him, it’s a huge red flag that they have serious concerns about him or they are looking for at least a 1st rounder this year, which is then a super hard pass.
  20. The 6-foot-2, 245-pounder is too undersized to be a base edge rusher in the NFL, so he will have to be a linebacker who rotates to rush off the edge in the subpackage. I was watching Locked On Panthers yesterday and M. Kaye from the Charlotte Observer made some pretty good comments on why we shouldn't take Walker. 1. Is he's undersized to be a full time Edge player. 2. Rookies don't start for an Evero team 3. You don't take a tweener at 8. If we take him I hope they define what his role will be. His situation reminds me so much of Jeremy Chinn. It's going to suck if we waste a pick on Walker when we could have had a true edge or DT plus an extra pick.
  21. i honestly do not think we (Panthers) have many irreplaceable players on this team right now .& they should just simply keep drafting BPA each & every round &so what if you have two really good players that play the same position that is a good problem to have since you now have someone you can trade for even more draft picks there is one thing for certain you cannot play or trade a bust all you can do is at some point cut your losses & if Mason Graham is BPA at #8 ; then that's who the Panthers should most defenitely draft ...just saying
  22. 1) This is their last chance to get decent draft compensation. Is that better? A team who trades for a player on an expiring contract (the 5th year option in this hypothetical) is not going to give up much. The trade is essentially for the first right to sign the player to the second contract. 2) Compensatory pick is dependent on net free agency outcome and performance. A potential, late 3rd round pick next year is not as valuable as a 2nd round pick this year. These are forward-thinking roster moves that winning franchises make. I hope that makes sense to you.
  23. That couldn't be any more incorrect. They can still pick up his 5th year option and then trade him next offseason. They can still decline the option, let him walk in FA next year, and as long as he has a good season will likely bring them back a 3rd round comp. And they could do either of the above and then still franchise tag him afterwards and then trade him for what would be a really good return, assuming he continues to progress and stay out of trouble. All of this while he's only costing them $5.4 million against the cap and trading him would only get them $3 million in cap savings. It makes zero sense to trade him this offseason unless they have serious concerns about him or unless they get a godfather offer they can't turn down.
