Seems like there was a good chance of Jacksonville taking TMAC at 5 had they not traded up. Schefter was making the rounds in the day or 2 before the draft saying the Jags wouldn’t be taking Mason Graham. I know it’s hard for people to come off of what the media big boards said, but TMac appears to have been one of the small group of coveted players this draft. Morgan and Canales said in their presser they were happy when the Browns took Graham because that meant there was a good chance Tmac would fall to them. Not bummed Graham went off the board, excited. They said it would have taken extra to entice them to trade out of that spot when Tmac was available, not a discount but a premium. Very encouraging.

Didn't get a ton of touches and was out of football all of last year. That's a ton of wear and tear saved.

Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8
tukafan21 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Been forgetting to ask this too...... Did anyone else who was watching the draft on NFL Network have a real strong feeling that we took T-Mac in the 30 seconds leading up to our pick when the analysts were getting their last words in? Those guys know the picks by then, even if the truck hasn't told them in their ear, they see it on Twitter and/or hear it from their sources as they're constantly still trying to get the most up to date information second by second. The first guy to talk first said how we had a horrible defense and that's where he would go, but then when Eisen said something like "so sounds like you're predicting defense" he quickly started talking about how we still need weapons for Bryce and could see us go offense as well. But it was the second guy who was talking about how he thought we'd take defense in the past tense. He even said something like "I thought they were going to go defense and Walker was going to be the guy I'd have taken." Now maybe it was just me hoping we'd take my guy, but just the way he said it, it very much sounded like he knew we took an offensive player, it was the toughest 30 seconds of my life to not get too excited since, well, you know. -
Are the Panthers still coddling Bryce?

Don’t be too hard on OP, he was just going along with the accepted huddle group think of the past 2 years and thought he would get pies and grumbles of agreement. -
I was 100% ready for us to not take T-Mac the last few weeks as all the smoke was that we were going defense, just as I was probably expecting to see us trade back than use the pick as well. But if we traded back and the team that took our pick then used to to take T-Mac, I'd have been legitimately devastated, I'd rather have seen us just pass on him than do that, it would have hurt.

Both of those teams are well run but not infallible. I get it. Some people like the pick and some people don't. That seems to surprise you and my take is hardly incendiary or reactionary. The future picks was about going to the end of the round, where I wish we moved...like I stated about where I saw good value in this draft. I would have taken most trades at a discounted value in this draft. I hope the details leak. I would like to know what they passed on.

For the love of all that is good SOMEBODY needs to take care of this place. I haven't been able to get in my account for like 6 months because I forgot my password. Password recovery email never comes through. Hell, I even tried creating a whole new account multiple times and the new account verification email never gets sent. The security question for creating a new account is still "Carolina Panthers head coach _____ Rhule". There are many reasons why this place is dying, one of them should not be that people can't do basic things like create an account or reset a forgotten password. I finally got on my computer browser here to try a bunch of different passwords and got in, and let me tell you this site is absolute cancer. Completely froze or crashed my browser multiple times. This will probably be the last time I log in on anything other than my phone. What a mess. A sports forum shouldn't be worse for your computer than an early 2000's nudey site.

lol, not sure which I like more, the Cowboys part or the Shedeur part -
I think is overstating things on our O that should be said if we are going to position the convo as a make it or break it thing for Bryce. I consider this year 2 for him and you often see regression year 2. AT is not in reality a top 10 slot WR. We force feed a vet WR in the slot that can catch. Which generates statistics for AT. He is more savvy rec TE at this stage than anything. We just drafted TMac. You can't really count him as anything except for a promising young WR that is about to have a rookie season. XL is on the development train. 2 promising young WRs that both are going to have to grow into legit NFL WRs. TEs are presently a below average group. RBs are in reality are probably a pretty average group in reality. Where we currently stand out IMO is our OL talent.

2025 Panthers Draft Class - Overview
LinvilleGorge replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Overall I'm happy. We've never drafted a receiver this high and that's probably a big part of the reason why we've only had one elite tier level WR in franchise history. Scourton looked like top 10 pick material playing at a lighter weight then bulking up hurt his sack number while he overall still played well. We're going to play him at the lighter weight. Princely is a guy a lot of folks were hot or cold on. Hopefully the hot folks were right. But he has NFL measurables, had double digit sacks last year, and most importantly to me he showed steady progression as a player throughout his college career. The arrow is pointing up. Etienne surprised me. I wasn't expecting us to go RB this early but I think he's a solid compliment to Chuba and most of us expected us to draft a RB at some point in the mid to late rounds so it's not shocking. I don't love the Ransom pick simply because he's not the type of safety I wanted us to draft. I wanted us to draft a deep coverage specialist. But, that's the type of safety the Panthers have never seemed to value and it doesn't seem like anything has changed there. It is what it is. I didn't expect us to wait this long to add a DT in this strong DT draft but Cam Jackson was a guy we showed a lot of interest in throughout the pre-draft process so this clearly wasn't a panic move with DTs flying off the board. This is a guy we liked all along. Mitchell Evans is a well rounded TE that probably projects as an NFL backup which is fine at this point in the draft. Like Etienne, he's another guy with an elite 10 yard split time. What he lacks in downfield ability he makes up for in initial suddenness. That can end up being a lot more important on a football field than deep speed. Horn seems like a guy added at least as much for his return ability as his receiving ability. I like that for a late round pick. It gives a guy multiple paths to making the roster. -
Panthers reach deal with Muhsin 'Moose' Muhammad III

His Dad had the same problem a few times in his career. Luckily he and Jake clicked. -
Yes. He either improves or he goes. I'm still not sold on the guy. He looked better end of the year, yes. But a great deal of that was simply that he had looked so bad before it would have been difficult to not look better. BY9 was still one of the worst QB's in the league when it comes completion percentage, air yards per attempt, yards, yards per attempt . . . the list goes on. Again, I agree that he looked better toward the end of the year, but he has a lot more ground to make up before he will be looked at as a guy who can go out and win games for us. He seems like a great guy, and maybe we keep him as a backup, but if he doesn't get it done this year the Panthers need actively seek the answer.

I think they didn't want to be associated with what people were posting. People didn't hold back when posting online back then. This is the prehistoric dial-up internet, where most things were anonymous and not viewed by many people. I remember people arguing about going to war with Iraq after Sept 11 on the main forum lol. I think that's why they were like alright you guys can post this poo somewhere else.

Round 4, Pick 20 (#122) - Lathan Ransom, SAF, Ohio State
vorbis replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
y'all I like Ransom already. he's got a legit Peanut Punch *right now* and he shows a lot of promise in reading blocking schemes to make a difference in run defense. and for those saying he will start on ST--hell yes. he has blocked multiple punts at OSU. love the pick. -
The Panthers did briefly have a forum for the fans on their site. Yeah, they probably got tired of getting clowned on for doing dumb poo and just shut it down. LOL

Panthers reach deal with Muhsin 'Moose' Muhammad III
PanthersGTI replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Rooting for him. Was just reading up, doesn't seem like he got a lot of opportunities. Seems like his mental game is what he will have to overcome. Hopefully being close to home lets him focus. A little insight ( second hand, just what I saw posted ) : He has all the skills but was nonexistent under two different coaching staffs. He butted heads and was benched under Jimbo (for wearing sleeves under his uniform after the coaching staff told him not to ). Then under the new staff, he rarely saw the field – he had just 55 yards last season. When he saw the field, he either made the most impressive play of the game or would get an unsportsmanlike penalty. Just a bizarre case because he has the talent. Aggie here to provide some insight. As the other poster mentioned, Moose had a weird time at A&M and it didn't help that Jimbo's offense was painful and wide receivers never seemed to excel. His third year was promising but he was also competing with Evan Stewart, Noah Thomas, and Chase Lane who I'm pretty sure were all 5*s. Also Ainais Smith and Devon achane ran majority of the offense. That said, going into his last year with Jimbo, a couple guys like Lane and Achane left, and most Ags thought this would be the year Moose really steps up. Unfortunately as the other poster mentions, he disappeared into misconduct and coaching change. -
Maybe that's what it was. That sounds familiar.
