  1. Past hour
  2. Unfortunately, Ice, there are some blueprints of hybrid LB/edge players who were busts too--Everette Brown is one, but he was forced into a 4-3 DE role here. I would say that the 3-4 defense has a lot of wiggle room for hybrids at the OLB/Edge position--I am just not seeing Walker as an elite player at any one role. Coverage? Rushing the passer from the 9? And at his size... If we take him, I hope that I am wrong because there are some personalities I really would love to be on this roster. Jihaad Campell is one. Bech is another.
  3. According to the Google spreadsheet, the team has met with: Nick Emmanwori (local visit) Malaki Starks (Combine) Billy Bowman Jr (Senior Bowl) Andreas Keaton (top-30) Jonas Sanker (pro day) They must be a lot higher on Demani than fans/media are aware, or could also be very select in who they're targeting.
  4. Jalon is going to be a victim of his environment, unfortunately. Fortunately, we have a couple of blueprints (Haason Reddick + Frankie Luvu) for different development paths that might work out for him.
  5. not a rumor and not speculation just simply a musing. If Isaiah bond is there in the 4th run your ass to the podium and take the gamble. Seemed to work well with a guy like tyreek then take Tez Johnson in the 5th. Bryce would have more talent then he would know what to do with
  6. But Luvu was a bargain free agent. Would you draft him, knowing what you know now, at #8 overall?
  7. I was high on Mykel Williams to start the season, then very low on him during the scouting process. Now, I'm comfortable with the pick. Him and Shemar Stewart are the two best strong-side front-seven guys in this draft and Mykel has tape from earlier in his college career to show the production that you expect from his measurables. If the decision makers feel that getting a guy for life after Clowney would be best to keep the run defense strong after this season, I can understand that. Though I could also understand them looking for a pass rusher on the weak-side that can attract double teams and open up things for the LBs + Moehrig on blitzes the way Burns was used.
  8. The question, once you agree how he might be used, (the same dilemma applies to Hunter with the CB/WR critics) is he a top 10 pick at the role you drafted him to play? Is Jalon Walker a top 10 edge? LB? For example, if Hunter was the third best CB and the third best WR, would you draft him in the top 10? He goes #2 or 3 because he is the best WR and the Best CB in the draft. No risk. Walker? He is not the second best edge in the draft. Risky. Love the kid--hope it works out wherever he goes.
  9. I have no idea what is going to happen. Walker scares me--although he is not the most overrated player in the draft, I do not see him at his size as an every down edge either. Mykel? I need to more about his role at UGA, but I am starting to like him over Walker--if I had to choose. Emmanwori (S) might just help the team more than any defender on the board. I think Morgan's comments about WR were either scary or just a smokescreen: I think we do feel good about our receiver room. We're looking forward to seeing them compete and just get better and better. That's not to say that we're not gonna invest in a receiver at some point during the draft. So we're just gonna draft really good football players and if it's a wideout, then so be it. ---Dan Morgan, GM 2024--?? First of all, there are teams with 2 WRs better than our best. How can they compete if they have no competition? I dunno. What is the plan at S? They only met with Emmanwori. I think they are going with 2 hybrid safeties, and his function here is more important than his value to the league. They talked to Blackmon and he did not sign. They have 2 depth players-and nothing else. Do not be surprised if Emmanwori is the pick. TMac, Golden or Emmanwori would not shock me.
  10. I stand for the flag and kneel for the cross 16 wins from immortality let's get it lads
  11. We will draft Walker over Mykel if he’s there
  12. Your thoughts? I don't think the trade up or even down value system stays exactly in place this year. Look at all the bad trades that hurt teams that give away too much (49ers for Lance, even us w/the Bears set us back). What trade up except Mahomes/KC was it really a great trade for the team giving up a lot? Same with trading down. Teams will know you don't want to pick and they won't be giving the store to move up because there is not a generational talent to do that for. Now, I believe these possibilities. The Giants probably won't take QB-Sanders at 3, it's too much pressure if it doesn't work. They don't really need another edge rusher with Carter. I can see them possibly saving face, trade down to even the Panthers at 8 but not asking for a kings ransom. A 1st round swap, a 3rd and 4th and maybe next years 2nd and 4th could be enough without giving up too much. The Giants save in pay and in public opinion and then they can take Sanders or even another QB. For the Panthers to drop down, it has to mean their top 3 picks are not there. Do they take TE-Warren if he drops in their lap at 8 (I do like that)? I believe they would love to drop back but again I don't think teams will pay a lot to move up unless they want a QB before the Saints (our only hope for a good value). I'm not picking a player, just thinking of the draft in general and value. Reaching doesn't work and more and more teams are realizing that.
  13. With the new DL, we should be better at edge by simple addition. What player would have the biggest impact on the Panthers? I still see the plan to trade back and take Emmanwori if we can find a trade partner. Why, you ask? S is a huge need and they have really only looked at 1 visits/meetings. We will try to trade up for Princely in the second. A WR in the third (Bech or Noel).
  14. Today
  15. Kinda meh on Mykel. He seems more like a 4-3 DE. Honestly like Princely better.
  16. Daaamn. I didn't realize both squads had so little draft capital. Got me curious as to who might be trade up candidates based on capital. 11 picks - BAL 10 picks - BUF, CLE, DAL, JAX, LAC, MIA, SEA 9 picks - CAR, LV, NE, NO 8 picks - ARI, GB, KC, LAR, NYG, NYJ, PHI, SF, TEN 7 picks - CHI, CIN, DEN, DET, HOU, IND, PIT, WAS 5 picks - ATL 4 picks - MIN Can't help but wonder if NO is considering a deal with JAX to jump up and take Shedeur since they've got the picks...
  17. Looking over the roster and the team has positioned themselves fairly well for this upcoming draft when it comes to addressing the edge group. Clowney and Wonnum are the definite starters with Pat Jones II having split time evenly both on the strong- and the weak-side last year in Minnesota. DJ Johnson is a strong-side guy, Amare Barno weak-side. Further down the roster, Boogie Basham is a strong-side defender as is Kenny Dyson (primarily a ST-contributor tho). Thomas Incoom splits time on both sides of the line. The team seems to be approaching the strong-side with a platoon approach with the weak-side needing the biggest injection of talent. However, they might also be looking to have an answer for life after Clowney as part of the offseason's theme of killing the run on defense. I can better understand the allure of Mykel Williams and Shemar Stewart when trying to look at it through that lens. Manifesting a trade back for Donovan Ezeiruaku... (シ_ _)シ
  18. 7-10 sacks from him would be insane. That’s nick bosa/will Anderson. If we drafted him I’d be pleasantly surprised with 4-5 and locking up the run.
  19. Yeah, but there aren't 142 starters. 64th out of 142 puts him in bottom of the barrel starter/good backup range.
  20. Im good with either Georgia player. But prefer Walker if i had to pick.
  21. Front four??? So do you mean edge or DL... Line seems pretty set. Brown - Brown - Wharton | Robinson and Tuttle as the main backups. Could use one more depth piece to fill out a solid top 6. OLB or edge... Well that's a different story but don't worry Walker is on the way.
  22. I wouldn’t hold 2023 agaist him tbh the rotating door of scap heap guards and centers playing every week next to him made it impossible to know whose assignment was what. This year will be very telling for Ickey, first year returning all five starters with ni weak links.
  23. That's out of 142 which isn't accounting for snap counts.... He did improve a bit last year, and I'm not holding the train wreck the year before against him, I'd like to see him get that grade up into the 70s and I'd be happy with it.
