OFFICIAL Undrafted Free Agent thread
pantherdad replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tuasivi Nomura - linebacker Fresno State apparently, he just signed here as a UDFA gives me Luvu vibes all over again. Looks like a hard hitter, just don’t know too much about him -
i'm really digging everyone that we drafted. just looking at that list and i see most of them being people who can or will get used pretty heavily in the next few years. i think Horn will probably have the hardest time getting serious play time of all of them. yeah...we definitely got three starters in that bunch coming out of the gate (TMac, Scourton, and Ransom) and four more that will be in heavy rotation.

i'm quite happy with this draft, especially after hitting all the stuff we did in the offseason leading up to the draft. bringing in moering, bobby brown, and wharton was huge for us. so was dowdle. i think that set us up quite nicely for the draft. i think tmac will be a really good target for bryce. same with mitchell. we've got a good WR room right now with a ton of potential. i REALLY like the TE room right now. RBs looks good now as well. i think that defense is going to be a lot better next year as well. we added a lot of beef to the DL and a lot of boom to safety...all of it geared towards shutting down the run game. the last few weeks our pass rush was getting to the QB quite a bit and giving them a rough time. i think there was already a lot of momentum to build on there. it was just the run game that kept killing us. looks like we got that fixed.

Eh, I don't think anyone can reasonably accuse me of wanting Bryce gone anymore and I wanted to develop a back up QB, but the total roster is more important. Just the way our holes have been patched it didn't work out well. Part of my desire is because we've got a QB guru has HC... But next year's QB class is supposed to be so, so much better, so that'll be a time to snag a backup.

Are the Panthers still coddling Bryce?

This is such an incrediblely stupid take. I'm one of the ones saying we need to have a better backup than Andy Dalton and it has nothing to do with any Bryce hate. Take away the names and look at capabilities of our current QB1 and QB2. Did you not see what happened to Miami last year? Tua goes down and with 2 of the best WRs in football their juggernaut offense looks like preschool yard ball. We need to be developing a 2nd QB if we're serious about a playoff run. Dalton showed he isn't good enough to get it done for multiple games. Now whether that means bringing in a different vet or actually trying to develop QB talent for once in franchise history, we need to be looking elsewhere to better the overall team. Having a reliable backup is a good thing. DA wasn't great, but he was serviceable for a little bit if Cam got hurt. DC is supposed to be a QB whisper so let him whisper to 2 QBs and the team is in a better position. Injuries are part of football. You need to be as best prepared as you can be for the inevitable. I'd be making the same argument if we had Mahomes or Brady and not Bryce. -
Looking at Scourtons tape he reminds me so much of Rucker

I really like this draft, not really a reach or bad pick at all in the bunch. I can see every single player drafted making an impact this season with 3 definite starters and Evans that should get a ton of snaps at TE2. NALO has all the skills and size you look for in a WR1 and should make an immediate impact on offense. Horn will return punts as a rookie and learn a lot techniques from AT. Scourton has the size, skills and intensity to be a day 1 starter at Strong side OLB and make a noticeable impact for the defense. Princely will see snaps but will take a little longer than Scourton to become a starter. Needs to add functional weight and strength to his frame to be a 3 down starter. Will break down further after my head scans.

This was my question if he was someone that could get open. Well yall will be clamoring for another number 1 wide receiver next year for the 15th year in a row. Meanwhile we give up 45 points a game. He sounds like taller Legette that may be able to catch, guess we won't know until September. Also, everyone assumes this guy is now #1, the fug he is. Theilen is the number 1.

My man. I’m with ya, as long as the huddle exists I think it’s the best option for panthers discussion and news. I’ve definitely become much less active since Tepper turned the team to poo and if I lived in NC and had panthers fan friends and acquaintances to talk panthers with maybe I wouldn’t be on much but for an out of towner it’s a great resource for discussing the team and despite some of the clowns here there are plenty of good dudes and discussion

Love CBS for this. I don't know how they got an A- based on the other ratings, but I give a B+. Had they have gone edge or a defensive playmaker overall or traded back and got Tet or Tyler Warren then come talk to me. This was a reach and you can't convince me different Green Bay admitted to considering three wide receivers. THEY PICKED IN THE 20s. Many anticipated Tet being there. Maybe we tried to trade back, but Dave already said it was going to be the Michigan DT or Tet, the two picks that i liked the least at 8. Round Pick Player Grade 1 8 Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona C

Are the Panthers still coddling Bryce?

You realize the irony of posting this on a message board in 2025? Anyway I didn't mean anything personal about it. Just how it highlights the post for "popular post" it would be funny to have an "unpopular" one as well. Regardless you got a topic going with lots of responses. In relation to the topic. I was kind of wanting a Leonard or some sort of project QB who can at minimum take over for Dalton for cheap after next year myself. We did sign one that was undrafted but I'm sure that's just an arm for rookie camp... -
Sounds like a party, can I get an invite? lol

You could probably just unstick the other pick threads and keep this one. They have gotten off track anyway

Hopefully it's not like when you go to some random hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, the food turns out amazing and a year later you cant remember where the place was

Bear Hands started following 2025 Panthers Draft Class - Overview
-
Figured to group all the picks in one place so we can take a more holistic & zoomed out look at the class. My overall one sentence approach: We played it smart, moving up to get guys we wanted, however in that process, maximized value without mortgaging the future picks. Strong blend of smart + aggressive this year. Some initial notes: We've got ourselves a real WR1. Coker & Legette can fill into very complimentary roles. Then we took a swing on a returner/shiftier type later on, with real juice, in Horn. Pass Rush was nonexistent last year - so landed a guy in Scourton who many had pegged as a 1st -- he's back to his Purdue weight, where he looked like a potential superstar, has great measurables, and attitude. Power guy, growing moveset, & real edge setting ability. Princely may start out as a specialist (maybe more), but he has real upside and the frame to fill into a 3-down edge. Nick Bonitto-ish. Etienne I like. He's basically our 3rd down back who we can trust catching balls. He may get more playing time than expected and we have a bit of a 70/20/10 type thing with Chubba/Dowdle/Etienne I've said it before, Evans is excellent value. True inline TE that can play every role at the position. Good hands, good blocking. Thought he'd be a 3rd-4th rounder. Cam Jackson we keyed in on, interviewed him a few times. Big boy, we definitely had a connection and affection. All for it. And last but not least, Ransom who was one of my top safeties. I was thinking Watts or Sanker to compliment Moehrig, but before FA, Ransom was the one I was hoping for, and we freaking landed him. Tenacious, physical, pure football talent (& film junkie) with a nose to end plays. Where I find this to make sense is we have a lot of DB heavy looks, and FS is not the most critical position these days. Having insurance and someone who can get in sub packages is important. And I think we like our FS Richardson (Maybe we sign Blackmon, but I feel very comfortable here) Oh and we landed one of the top kickers via UDFA

I mean, he’s said we’ve done bad for a while now and has been right… So your theory isn’t correct.

shaqattaq replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. There's a fine line between coddling and doing everything possible to help him succeed, WHICH WE ABSOLUTELY SHOULD BE DOING. That being said...we absolutely have put of eggs into the Bryce basket: "QB whisperer" head coach, $150 last year on FA guards, re-signed all of our o-line FA's this off season, back-to-back 1st round WR's, a VERY pricey trade up to pick him in the first pace. It's a lot for sure. However, if Bryce is not our future franchise QB (I think he is), all of these moves transfer favorably to whoever we end up with. -
The good news is if he sucks and we get a pick in a QB heavy draft our rookie will be set up for success bc I think we are putting a good team together
