There’s honestly no consistency man. When we paired Dan with Dave I did think they at least had a vision for how they wanted to build the team. But they’ve done so many things since then that contradict building the team in the way we were told they were going to.
-
I expect Graham to be gone but teams might get caught up on measurables and convince themselves to draft someone else. Unfortunately, we're the poster child for that. Ironically, the one time we ignored measurables we made one of the most aggressive trade ups in recent memory.

Oh know I think the drop off is much higher than mid 1st. It probably starts before our pick. Carter, Hunter, and Graham seem like the blue chip players to me. So why pick a Walker/Mykel at 8 when you get get two players with a similar rating on your big board like Nolen or Starks for the same value. Basically get two for one. The question is who would want to trade up? If a player like Jeanty is there (we can't afford to take a RB at 8 ) or a QB like Sanders is there and a team is high on him they could probably get there QB for less than in a normal draft.
-
All depends on who they trade with. If it was with the Bears as is speculated from Joe Person then it's only moving down two spots, so you probably would only get their 3rd rounder and would likely have to give them some day 3 picks. Or swap 1st/2nd rounders and give them a day 3 pick. I don't think they're going to get a second rounder unless they trade into the lower half of the 1st round, but it seems like most of the movement is from teams around them. In that case the trades are likely going to be mediocre.

It feels far too much like last year. Taking the “traits” guy with “potential” instead of the sure fire good player that played a pivotal role in winning two national championships. Sure thing, let’s bring in this guy that Texas A&M was begging to leave 12 months ago because POTENTIAL or whatever man. Watch Mason Graham play against Ohio State. That should end whatever debate we’re having here. Move down for an extra third to get a way worse player. Sure great call considering how great we always do on day two.

People keep saying this as a reason to move back, but for me, it's a reason to stay put. Sure, let's say we agree with the premise that on the whole, teams think the talent level between the middle of the first through much of the second is pretty similar. The problem is that teams don't view ALL of those players the same way, every team has certain players they like more than others, just as there are some they strongly dislike more than others. Because of that, it's impossible to predict who will still be there if you trade back, more so than ever before. For example, we could feel it's safe to trade back from 8 to say 20 because the player we really want, we don't think is going to be taken until the early 2nd, so they'll easily still be there at 20 in our minds. The problem is that with this draft, that same player could be the 10th person on another team's board and thus will end up getting taken at like pick 13ish. It's why I'd rather just stay put, take the player we feel strongest about at that time, and call it a day.

yeah, but Horn also highlights why he was such a bad pick (not bad player). The cupboard was bare.....and we spent a top 10 pick on a dude who overall, didn't play a valuable enough position given all of our needs and holes (not to mention his health). as for the rest? Yeah, they have all shown various degrees of growth (well, maybe not XL yet). But I can acknowledge their growth and still say all those......questions.....are still in play that were there when we drafted them. I don't think whatever rocky road Icky or Bryce has taken so far....doesn't change the fact there were safer options. And those questions still remain for all I mentioned. Icky is still a run block leaning LT. Bryce is still a historical anomaly that hasn't silenced that. I still like the Marty approach. Go for the surest bet possible 95% of the time in the first round.

Captain Morgan replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Saints are signing Olave for his 5th year option, but not OT Penning Saints took Olave in the first and then traded back into rd 1 for Penning. No surprise on Penning whom was benched multiple games because of poor play. But they wasted a lot of draft capitol to get him. Bust. Olave is also risky because of his concussion issues. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/04/saints-to-exercise-chris-olaves-fifth-year-option-decline-trevor-pennings -
I'm not crazy about their obsession with SC players in the least. It's like it's written into some contract in the FO that an SC player must be taken in every draft. I would say your odds of winning that bet is pretty good. I'm not betting against you.

As I said in another thread, you can pretty much guarantee they'll package some picks to move back up if they move down. So they won't be drafting more guys, just drafting more of the top 100 talent. We will probably get a late second rounder to move down in the first and then package a 3rd and one of the 4ths to move back into the end of the 2nd round to have three 2nd round picks.
-
Yeah, of Graham is there fug drafting someone else or taking some ripoff trade offer. Just draft the stud. Don't overthink it or try to get cute.
-
It helps the Panthers in these rankings that our city also has a basketball team that plays down the road

Preach. Where’s the consistency? On Day 1 we were told we were going to bring in “DAWGS.” Players to change the culture. Now we’re hearing a day before the draft we’re in love with a player that has a long list of character concerns and issues? Where is the consistency? Are we just saying stuff? Are we just making stuff up as we go? I swear man, have a plan and stick with it. Taking Walter Nolen over Mason Graham would completely contradict every thing they’ve told us about how this team will be built. I don’t care about “potential” or RAS scores. Give me the fuging bully with a ring on his finger that got even meaner when playing his biggest rival.

have we managed not only be the worst NFL team under Tepper or do we still own the prestigious title of worst in all of professional sports?
-
Sanders - DT Burch - DT/EDGE Kennard - EDGE Knight - LB Hemmingway - DT That's 5 defensive front 7 players projected around rounds 2-4. A lot of it depends on what happens w/ the first pick. But the defensive front 7 is the red circle on the team I think Morgan will over draft this time over better players. I'll make a name prediction on which one after they make their Thursday night pick. and the Panthers for whatever reason, go to the Gamecock well more than any other University I think in all of college football.
-
I mean, we have the worst record in the NFL since Tepper bought the team. It's not like that breeds optimism.
