Yeah, I get it, but Jalon Walker might make a pretty good MLB, even without the sacks. As a Georgia alum, I don't know that he'll be a sack artist, but I believe that his ceiling is a great 'backer. You never know though. He has some skills. I don't know, I still think that we should trade back, unless Mason Graham slides to us. I love my Dawgs, but I kinda suspect Green may be the best EDGE, though not the best person. I don't know how that squares with what we're looking for.

It's amazing how bad he was at everything.

Finally got to finish that great video backup with facts.

Definitely not. Keep in mind, #10 got traded last year. They moved all the way down to #11 and picked up an extra 4th and 5th to move down that one spot. #17 got traded for #23 and a 5th plus 3rd and 4ths this year. #24 and a 7th got traded for #29 and #73. So a higher 3rd round pick last year meant moving up five spots in the late 1st. Moving up 12 spots into the top 10 needs to net a helluva lot more than a 3rd rounder. The draft pick value difference is worth roughly a late 1st rounder.

Just the thought of Dan Morgan trading back into the first round is not a move I am comfortable with. I honestly don’t trust him enough to get fair value. Dan Morgan is probably the GM other GM’s whisper/joke about and say “yeah just call Dan Morgan up, he’ll do anything” Hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Gotta remember Tepper hired from within with Morgan. He is probably meddling again. Lord help us.

To be fair the Panthers could love Walker. That doesn't commit them to drafting him. I'm sure they love a lot of players in this draft. Unfortunately they cannot have all of them. The trick is to get as many of them that can play at this level and that really want to be the best. Those having both of those traits going for them is a challenge. The second part is the hardest to find.

Fine by me. Dude is a monster as long as he wants to play. The question is how bad does he want to?

The conversation about a tweet that hasn’t even happened went to our GM getting fired. Yes I get it was a cumulative series of events, but still a silly overreaction. We went from 2 to 6 wins and were trending up at season end yet we don’t like the idea of a trade down that hasn’t even happened so we are back to getting him poo canned. Yeah no overreaction here at all…. Who said it would just be middle round picks? It just wouldn’t be the same value in a draft where there is a big drop off but I’d assume 1st and 2nd round picks could be involved depending on how far down we trade.

Pre-Draft thoughts from Diana Russini
PNW_PantherMan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well trading out and up (today's 2nd for tomorrow's 1st) is way better than trading down. It's just that's how you get fired as a GM, because you're going to suck until you get to make those selections and they have time to hit their strides. It's the mismatch of incentive that causes the bad decisions that overly prioritize today at the expense of tomorrow. You have to win now or you're gone. No 80 year old billionaire has the patience for a 5 year plan. -
Can’t believe everyone just spent three months talking about how abnormally flat this draft was, and then got pissy when we considered trading back for less than normal. Gotta play the hand you’re dealt. Bad top of the draft, bad offers. Still gotta do what’s best for a roster that has a lot of holes.
